MEET LEVI
At just 4 months Levi was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis or PFIC. For most kids, PFIC requires a liver transplant as the disorder progresses to end stage liver disease.
MORE ABOUT CHOLESTASIS
The most common symptoms of PFIC are jaundice (high biliruben) and pruritis (intense itching). However, depending on the type of PFIC (Levi's doctors believe it is type 2) it can cause liver failure within the first few years of life and a type of cancer called hepatocellular carcinoma.
